MEET
初めて人に会うときにmeetを使う：
- Nice to meet you!
- There’s someone I want you to meet.
- 小学1年生のときに親友に会ったよ。
- 旅行で面白い人に会ったよ。
MEET WITH
meet withは誰かと議論（ビジネス、政治など）のために時間を過ごす時に使う。)
- I met with Cathy to plan the office Christmas party.
- The president is going to meet with the prime minister on Friday.
meet withは人（Cathy、the prime minister）が続かないといけないので注意しましょう。
もし両方の人が動詞の前にリストされている場合は、「会う」だけを使いますが、それでも初めて会うのではなく、話し合いのために誰かと時間を過ごすことを意味します：
- Cathy and I met to plan the office Christmas party.
- The president and the prime minister are going to meet.
- 大統領と首相は会うことにしている。
MEET UP / MEET UP WITH
These are informal ways to say “get together” for socializing:
- Let’s all meet up in the park at 2:00…（2時集合で、公園で会いましょう）。
- I met up with my friends after work.
最初の文では、「Let’s meet in the park…」とも言えますが、インフォーマルに話すときは「meet up」を使うことが非常に一般的です。 2つ目の文では、”meet up “の後に人（”my friends”）が続いているので、”with “が必要なのです。
